Bret Ables

Bret’s career in financial services began under the guidance of his father, Thomas Ables, a visionary financial advisor who founded Thomas A. Ables & Associates in Paris, Texas, in 1970. His father’s dedication to sound financial planning and personalized client service established a firm that has continued to serve multiple generations.

Bret pursued his education at Paris Junior College from 1988 to 1990 before earning a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance from Texas A&M Commerce (now East Texas A&M University) in 1992. Early in his career, he joined his father’s firm, where he gained extensive knowledge of financial management and developed a deep appreciation for building lasting client relationships. Following his father’s semi-retirement and subsequent passing in May 2017, Bret assumed leadership of the firm, ensuring the continuation of its tradition of excellence while expanding its reach to serve a broader clientele.

A lifelong resident of Paris, Texas, Bret embraces the charm of small-town living. Outside of his professional endeavors, he enjoys fishing, biking, and playing pickleball. A passionate football fan, he also appreciates unwinding with a cigar and a drink—whether a margarita, whiskey, or beer, depending on the occasion.
